Ron Roberts will not return as defensive coordinator at Baylor, a source confirms to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. Roberts arrived with head coach Dave Aranda prior to the 2020 season. He helped lead the Bears to a Big 12 and Sugar Bowl championship in 2021. The defense took a step back this season, however, as Baylor struggled to a 6-6 finish in the regular season.

Roberts was the defensive coordinator at Louisiana prior to his arrival in Waco. He was the head coach at Southeastern Louisiana and Delta State before jumping back into the FBS ranks. Aranda, who was a defensive coordinator prior to attaining head coach status for the first time with Baylor, clearly wasn’t happy with a defense that allowed 26.6 points per game this season compared to 18.29 in 2021.

Colton Barber of SicEm365.com was first to report.
