Austin College head football coach Loren Dawson announced his resignation after leading the Kangaroos for the last 13 years. The ‘Roos finished a 1-9 campaign that saw the team improve throughout the season. Dawson’s final game was a narrow 23-20 loss to Howard Payne.

Dawson grew the Austin College program during his tenure. The ‘Roos program consistently had around 80 players in the program before Dawson grew that number to over 120 athletes in recent seasons.

Dawson finishes with a 38-85 overall record and had five seasons finish at .500, including a four-year stretch from 2012-2015.

"We appreciate Coach Dawson's commitment to Austin College over the years, from his time as an assistant coach to his 13 seasons as the head coach of our football program," Austin College athletics director David Norman said. "We wish Loren and his family all the best in their future endeavors."

The Kangaroos will begin a search for a new coach, and the job will be posted on the Austin College and NCAA employment websites.
