Prospect on the Rise

Fort Bend Ridge Point 2023 DT DK Kalu (6'3, 270) has had a strong senior season and is making a push to be considered for the DCTF Hot 100.

Kalu, who is committed to Baylor, missed most of his junior season with an injury, but was listed in the Top 50 for his class heading into that season. 

Kalu is the son of former NFLer and current Houston-based radio show host ND Kalu. 

Commit of the Week

Longview 2023 WR Jalen Hale (6'1, 185) committed to Alabama over offers from Texas and Georgia.

Hale is rated as a DCTF four-star prospect, checking in at No. 9 overall. 

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: A four-year starter for John King's (Longview head coach) Lobos. Hale has continued to ramp up his production year over year. Hale has the size to overpower high school defensive backs completely and the skills to get open consistently. He has the ability to be any college's No. 1 WR.

Underclassman of the Week

Silsbee 2024 WR Drelon Miller (6'0, 200) has helped the Tigers to a 5-0 start and had his best game in last week's 48-27 win over West Orange-Stark.

Miller rushed for 155 yards on six carries, hauled in nine passes for 215 yards and scored five touchdowns in the victory.  

Miller is already one of the state's most highly-offered prospects with scholarship opportunities from Baylor, Houston, Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Oklahoma, Stanford and more. 

Recruit of the Week

Willis 2024 QB Derek "DJ" Lagway (6'3, 225) recently released a Top 10 list. 

Baylor, Texas A&M, Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma and USC all made the cut.

Out of the two in-state programs, we are watching Texas A&M very closely in the recruiting race for the DCTF four-star. 

Lagway has made visits to LSU, Florida and Texas A&M this Fall.
