El Paso Riverside (5-0) at Bushland (5-0)

It’s a big cross-regional showdown up in the Texas Panhandle as unbeaten El Paso Riverside looks to make a claim for themselves as a top 10 team in the state at the 4A level. To do that, the Rangers will have to make the long road trip up to the Amarillo area where they battle with state-ranked Bushland in 3A-Division I.

Riverside rolled past Clint Horizon last week 65-13 as QB Angel “Speedy” Munoz threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns; he also ran for 54-yards and two touchdowns and he returned a kickoff 90-yards for a touchdown.

Bushland rolled past a state ranked 4A team last week in Dumas, beating the Demons 38-20. Dawson Jaco led the way for Bushland throwing for 312 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Falcons.

This will be a major test for Riverside playing an elite team outside of the El Paso area on the road and if the Rangers pull the upset. They’ll move to the top of the list a contender in Region I, but at this point Bushland is playing at an elite level and they are a title contender in 3A-Division I, so we’ll go with Bushland to get the win at home.

Stepp’s Pick: Bushland by 13
