Panhandle (4-0) at Wellington (3-1)

A real under the radar 2A game in the Texas Panhandle pits Division I Panhandle High against Division II powerhouse Wellington.

Panhandle’s offense has been on another planet early in the season averaging nearly 45 points per game. Last week it was the defense that stepped up in a big way as they defeated 3A Amarillo River Road, 34-7. RB Wyatt Brookshire ran for 157 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Panhandle, complimenting another huge night from QB Landyn Hack, who had 319 yards of offense and tallied three total touchdowns.

Wellington stepped up to a tough 3A opponent last week and won a hard-fought 14-13 win over Spearman. Nixon Folk’s 16-yard touchdown run and subsequent two-point run with just over four minutes left proved to be the difference for the Skyrockets in a real slugfest where neither team had more than 200 yards of offense.

Wellington is a solid Division II squad and a contender in Region I, but they don’t have the firepower to keep up with this Panhandle attack.
