Daingerfield 2024 ATH Aeryn "Bubba" Hampton (5'10, 175) has helped Daingerfield off to a 2-1 start in 2022.

He is a two-way star but reiterated his mind is set on playing wide receiver in college.

"That's what I want to play at the next level," Hampton said.

Hampton worked hard in the offseason to help propel the Tigers towards state championship aspirations.

"My speed and route running," Hampton said. I feel like that's something I worked on a lot this summer."

Hampton has made a non-binding verbal commitment to play his college football at Texas.

"Coach Sark (Texas Head Coach Steve Sarkisian) is probably my favorite coach," Hampton explained. "He's like an uncle."

September 1 was the first day colleges could reach out to 2024 prospects directly, and Hampton had a lot of attention despite being committed.

"A lot of schools hit me up," Hampton explained. "Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss a lot, Texas of course, LSU, a lot of schools. I can't even name them all, but it was a lot of schools that hit me up."

What were the conversations with Texas like?

"It was like how it's always been, just keep playing hard," Hampton said. "It's like a family out there, so it's really like the same conversation really."

Hampton reported that Ole Miss and LSU are the two programs (outside of Texas) recruiting him very aggressively with daily conversations/messages.
