The Texas Longhorns suffered a pair of losses before the season even began with reports that junior wide receiver Isaiah Neyor and senior offensive lineman Junior Angilau to season-ending knee injuries over the weekend. Both were expected starters for a program coming off a 5-7 record in Steve Sarkisian's first year on The 40 Acres.

Neyor was expected to start opposite of Xavier Worthy at the wide receiver position and team up with Jordan Whittington in the slot to form one of the most dynamic wide receiver trios in the country. Angilau is a fifth-year senior with 34 starts to his name. Young receivers such as Brenen Thompson and Savion Red much step up sooner than expected at wide receiver. A heatlhy Troy Omeire would also help the equation. Filling the gap left by Angilau at guard is likely a contest between true freshmen Devon Campbell and Cole Hutson.
