Saturday's matchups at Melissa featured a number of noteworthy quarterbacks who will be playing at the next level.

Colleyville Heritage and Wichita Falls Rider are the first two schools to qualify for the state Division I State 7-on-7 Tournament.

2023 QB Jack Pitts (6'0, 210) - Wichita Falls Rider
Pitts played extremely well while helping Rider qualify for the state 7v7 tournament. A strong quarterback who puts plenty of zip on the ball and has a quick trigger. I feel like he is a quarterback who is sliding under the radar. He checks a lot of the boxes on the field and his coaches are high on his leadership and intangibles off the field.

2025 QB Jamison "JT" Kitna (6'2, 205) - Burleson
It won't take long for Kitna to emerge on the recruiting radar. He quickly passed the eyeball test, and his arm was strong enough to knife the 25 MPH wind. Burleson had a tough draw in pool play, but the offense looks to be in good hands after the departure of No. 1 QB Dylan Raiola. His older brother is Florida QB Jalen Kitna, and the Gators are showing some early recruiting interest. His father is Burleson head coach Jon Kitna, who played QB in the NFL.

2023 QB Weston Smith (6'5, 205) - Colleyville Heritage
Smith is committed to Princeton, and the Tigers are getting a steal in Smith. He has P5-level potential. A big-bodied quarterback who can make all of the throws. He was relatively accurate and consistently productive despite the wind playing havoc on some of the other scores. With one season of TXHSFB under his belt, the DCTF three-star is poised to build on a junior season where he passed for 2,608 yards and 29 touchdowns.

2024 QB Cole Welliver (6'6, 200) - Flower Mound Marcus
Welliver is already considered one of the top-rated arms nationally, checking in as the No. 117 player nationally in the 247Sports rankings. He has collected four early scholarship offers (Arizona State, Colorado, Florida Atlantic, Washington State). Baylor and LSU are also showing interest. He has the size and frame that colleges covet.
