Prospect on the Rise

Stephenville WR Coy Eakin (6'3, 185) has been on fire since helping lead the Yellowjackets to a 38-21 win in the Class 4A Division I UIL Football State Championship.

Eakin has picked up new offers from Western Kentucky, Sam Houston, Texas State, North Texas, Arkansas State and Washington State.

He had a dominating performance to win Offensive MVP honors and lead Stephenville to a 38-21 win while hauling in nine receptions for 187 yards and three touchdowns.

Eakin entered the game with offers from Harding, UIW, Lamar, Ouachita Baptist, Tarleton State and A&M Commerce.

Commit of the Week

Converse Judson 2023 DT Johnny Bowens (6'3, 270) announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Christmas day. He picked the Aggies over Texas.

Bowens checks in at No. 39 in the DCTF Hot 100.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Bowens is already listed as one of the top defensive line recruits in the nation. He has experience playing up and down the defensive front, but his skill set may translate most effectively to an interior position. That being said, he has an explosive first step and the power to overwhelm at the point of attack.

Underclassmen of the Week

Franklin 2023 ATH Bryson Washington (6'0, 190) is another prospect who benefitted from a monster performance on the state championship stage at AT&T Stadium.

Following Franklin's 49-35 win over Gunter in the Class 3A Division II title game, he picked up offers from UTSA, Iowa State and North Texas.

Washington is a two-way standout who could play running back or safety in college.

"I don't care where I play when I get to college, honestly," Washington said. "I prefer defense, but offense is looking like where it is at for me right now. But honestly, wherever I get the opportunity, I am ready for it."

Recruit of the Week

Arlington Bowie OG Devon Campbell (6'3, 310) recently announced that he is down to two schools: Texas and Oklahoma.

The DCTF four-star is rated as the No. 14 prospect in the DCTF Hot 100, checking in as the No. 1 OG in the state.

Campbell, who is set to announce his decision on Feb. 3, is one of 24 TXHSFB prospects to star in the Under Armour All-America game on Jan. 2.
