Three Key Additions

Who were the highest-rated signees or prospects who might come in and make a significant impact?

DE/TE Kaian Roberts-Day (6'3, 240) - Festus (Mo.): The 247Sports Composite four-star checks in as the No. 4 player from the Show Me State. Interestingly, he has a lot of experience playing running back so he is used to having the ball in his hands, so it will be fun to watch what side of the ball he ends up on in Waco. Roberts-Day also boasted offers from schools like Alabama, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Tennessee.

Jeremy Patton (6'1, 210) - Tenaha: The DCTF four-star is a dominant presence at the 2A level. The best part about Patton's game is his versatility. He plays everywhere in high school and could play multiple positions in college, but defensive coordinators dream about having athletes like him in the box.

Tre Emory (6'3, 290) - Mount Pleasant: An explosive and active presence in the trenches, Emory plays up and down the line for Mount Pleasant. His speed, power, and leverage allow him to routinely make short work of the multiple blockers he sees, and he is always around the football. Emory is rated as the No. 51 player in the DCTF Hot 100.

Note: Lewisville 2022 WR Armani Winfield (6'2, 180) committed to Baylor after this story was published. He is the highest-rated prospect in the Bears' 2022 signing class checking in at No. 26 in the DCTF Hot 100. Winfield picked Baylor over Texas and Michigan State.

Hometown Hero

What prospect was a fan favorite on social media or a local hero who starred near the campus?

DE Devonte Tezino (6'4, 250) - Killeen Ellison: Tezino announced his commitment to the Bears on National Signing Day, giving BU a Cen-Tex presence on the commitment list. Tezino has the size and strength to line up and play strongside defensive end or defensive tackle. His athleticism was apparent early on in his career playing linebacker. Tezino collected double-digit scholarship offers.

Super Sleeper

We pick one prospect on the commit list and break down how he might outplay his ranking in college.

Coleton Price (6'3, 280) - Bowie: Baylor seems to have a knack for finding great small-school talent. Price is a mauler in the trenches. He is quick off the ball and plays with a physical edge. He likes to take the fight to his opponent and he packs a powerful punch. He is best in attack mode and he finishes strong.
