Highlighting a very talented 2021 Daingerfield squad is 2024 ATH Aeryn Hampton (5'10, 175). An East Texas prospect that first jumped on to DCTF's radar last year when he made varsity contributions as a freshman.

This season Hampton started accumulating impressive numbers from the word "go." He intercepted seven balls through the first nine games and returned five of them for scores. A quick watch of his highlights show an appetite for physical play as well.

Making strong contributions on both sides of the ball has allowed Hampton to show off his diverse skill set. On offense, Hampton has been a menace out of the slot with large chunk plays fueled by separating speed. His play on offense adds good context to his overall athletic ability.

Since mid-October, Hampton has added offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU and UTSA.

Baylor, Oklahoma State and Texas stand out early, according to Hampton.

Growing up in East Texas, Hampton grew up a Texas fan to some extent and is aware of the power of the Longhorn brand. Despite a rollercoaster season in Austin, Hampton believes in the current staff and thinks the 'Horns could be back in a position to be a successful program with some key wins on the recruiting trail.

"Texas is Texas, I've always been a Texas fan," Hampton said.

After receiving his offer from the cornerstone program, the Daingerfield athlete was contacted by the man leading the rebuild in Austin in Steve Sarkisian.

"I talked to him on the phone after I got my offer. He told me that he wanted me there and that I'm one of the best kids that he has watched. I like Coach Sark."

Regarding Baylor, Hampton has started to build fruitful relationships with several members of the Bears staff. He mentioned recruiting and personnel assistant Brian Nance, running backs coach Justin "Juice" Johnson and offensive line coach Eric Mateos.

Hampton and a few of his Daingerfield teammates visited Oklahoma State in Stillwater and witnessed the Cowboys' big Bedlam win over Oklahoma.

Hampton has made an impact on both sides of the ball this season. With that being said, the programs that are recruiting him currently view him as a cornerback at the next level.
