It’s another big-time showdown at Baylor and this time it’s on Friday night as unbeaten Bellville, led by Baylor commit RB Richard Reese and Utah State commit ATH Robert Briggs, looks to take down a surging Rusk squad out of East Texas.

Bellville rolled past Orangefield 62-14 as Reese ran for 246 yards and five touchdowns, while Briggs ran for 157 yards and a touchdown and added 49 yards receiving and a touchdown in the win.

Rusk came into their playoff opener against Salado as a bit of an underdog, but the Eagles pulled the upset in a 49-42 win. QB Owen McCown had a monster night, throwing for 401 yards, while completing 31 for 37 passes and throwing five touchdowns. McCown also added 59 yards rushing with a touchdown.

Rusk’s defense faced the Slot-T last week against Salado and even though Bellville runs a slightly modified version of the offense, the Eagles will be well schooled in Bellville’s scheme. The issue here is Bellville has two FBS prospects executing that scheme and those two playmakers are the catalysts in this underrated matchup.
