Midland Legacy (9-1) vs Southlake Carroll (11-0), 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Arlington’s Globe Life Field:

The area playoff weekend closes out in style with a big-time showdown in Region I as Midland Legacy looks to carry the flag for West Texas against state title contender Southlake Carroll.

Legacy rolled in their playoff opener a week ago taking down El Paso Pebble Hills, 43-22. RB Makhilyn Young led the way with 228 yards rushing and three touchdowns, but this Rebels offense is as dynamic and balanced as any unit in the state with WR’s Chris Brazzell and Donny Bishop and sophomore QB Marcos Davila.

Carroll made quick work of North Crowley a week ago taking down the Panthers, 42-20. RB Owen Allen ran for 129 yards and three touchdowns, while QB Kaden Anderson continues to impress throwing for 214 yards and three touchdowns as well.

The key for Southlake Carroll is their defense which is absolutely underrated, that unit will be tested in a major way against Midland Legacy, but the Dragons defense in the second half is the difference.

Stepp’s Pick: Southlake Carroll by 13
