Each week Dave Campbell’s Texas Football staff gives their power rankings of the sub-FBS college football teams in Texas.

Note: Teams are measured against the overall strength of their conference.

  1. Sam Houston (8-0) Last Week: 1 - It wasn’t that they dismantled Dixie State last week, it was how quickly they put the game out of reach that was impressive.

  2. Mary Hardin-Baylor (9-0) Last Week: 2 - UMHB faced a bit of adversity falling down 14-0 before dominating. A halftime brawl could lead to suspensions.

  3. Hardin-Simmons (8-1) Last Week: 4 - HSU has outscored its opponents 197-35 over the last four games and is playing its best football at the right time.

  4. Trinity (8-0) Last Week: 3 - The Tigers dropping a spot is more about how well Hardin-Simmons is playing right now. Trinity will be a tough out in the playoffs.

  5. UIW (7-2) Last Week: 6 - UIW can secure its second Southland Conference title and a playoff berth with wins in their final two regular season games.

  6. SFA (6-3) Last Week: 5 - The Lumberjacks earned a signature win in the Colby Carthel era with a masterful performance against No. 19 Eastern Kentucky.

  7. Angelo State (8-2) Last Week: 11 - The Rams are in a position to host at least one playoff game with a road win against an improved TAMUK this week.

  8. Prairie View A&M (7-1) Last Week: 8 - PVAMU locked up the SWAC West Division title last week but must remain focused to defeat Alcorn State this week.

  9. Texas Wesleyan (6-3) Last Week: 9 - Won’t knock a team for losing to an FCS team on the road. The Rams should finish their season with a win this week.

  10. Midwestern State (6-3) Last Week: 7 - Another disappointing loss for the Mustangs, who have committed seven second half turnovers in their two D2 losses.

  11. SAGU (7-3) Last Week: 15 - The Lions have won four straight and meet a suddenly struggling Langston squad this week.

  12. Texas A&M-Commerce (6-4) Last Week: 10 - The Lions’ offense has struggled all season averaging only 25.3 points per game against D2 competition.

  13. West Texas A&M (6-4) Last Week: 18 - The Buffs needed the victory over rival MSU and should finish the season with two straight wins this week.

  14. Tarleton (5-4) Last Week: 19 - The Texans picked up their second FCS win of the season with an impressive 42-21 defeat of Lamar.

  15. Blinn (5-4) Last Week: 12 - The Buccaneers will be looking to avenge an earlier loss to New Mexico Military in the SWJCFC semifinals this week.

  16. Howard Payne (6-3) Last Week: 13 - A brawl on the Yellow Jackets sideline at halftime marred their impressive first half performance against UMHB.

  17. Texas A&M-Kingsville (5-4) Last Week: 22 - The Javelinas are playing great football and are a real threat to Angelo State this week.

  18. Kilgore (5-4) Last Week: 23 - Kilgore pulled off the upset of Tyler last week and secured a rematch with the Apaches at home this week.

  19. Tyler (5-4) Last Week: 14 - Playing the same team in two consecutive weeks can’t be ideal for either squad but Tyler will be motivated.

  20. Trinity Valley (5-4) Last Week: 16 - Injuries derailed the Cardinals’ season after an impressive five straight wins to open their 2021 campaign.

  21. East Texas Baptist (5-4) Last Week: 21 - The Tigers were able to hang on late and defeat Sul Ross State last week and host a tough Belhaven team this week.

  22. Navarro (5-4) Last Week: 24 - The Bulldogs ended their season on a positive note with a 35-30 win over Cisco.

  23. UTPB (4-4) Last Week: 17 - UTPB has not lived up to expectations this season and its final game is against an angry MSU squad.

  24. Cisco (4-5) Last Week: 20 - The Wranglers struggled to reproduce their amazing run to the spring SWJCFC title during the fall campaign.

  25. Abilene Christian (4-5) Last Week: 25 - This week is huge for the future of the ACU program. The Wildcats are nearly in a must-win situation.

  26. Texas Southern (3-6) Last Week: 26 - The Tigers hung tough against a good Jackson State team for a half and the future is bright for TSU.

  27. Southwestern (3-6) Last Week: 28 - The Pirates fell down two scores early but rallied for a 24-14 win over TLU last week.

  28. Texas Lutheran (3-6) Last Week: 27 - A challenging season for the Bulldogs will come to a close at Hardin-Simmons this week.

  29. Sul Ross State (2-6) Last Week: 29 - The Lobos nearly pulled off a huge comeback win and have momentum heading into their game with Southwestern.

  30. McMurry (2-6) Last Week: 30 - The War Hawks can pull some positives from their loss to Belhaven but this week will be too tall a task against UMHB.

  31. Lamar (2-7) Last Week: 31 - Depth has been a problem for the Cardinals this year and is part of the rebuilding process under Blane Morgan.

  32. Wayland Baptist (2-7) Last Week 32 - A long trip to Arizona and an early start await the Pioneers this week to end the season.

  33. Austin College (1-7) Last Week: 33 - The ‘Roos are facing a reeling HPU team and could use the momentum of a surprise win for the offseason.

  34. Texas College (0-10) Last Week: 34 - The kids keep fighting despite facing long odds in every game. Don’t count the Steers out against Louisiana College.

  35. Houston Baptist (0-9) Last Week: 35 - HBU led at the half against Northwestern State but the young Huskies still need to learn how to finish games.
