Prospect on the Rise

After a brief stint in New Jersey, 2022 TE Trent McGaughey (6'3, 220) is back in TXHSFB at Conroe. 

McGaughey is again rated as a DCTF three-star, and his profile has been reactivated on the site. 

The one-time Shadow Creek standout reports 40 scholarship offers with schools like Baylor, Houston, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Colorado, LSU, Miami (FL), Oklahoma State on the list.  

Commit of the Week

Denton Guyer 2022 RB BJ Phillips (5'11, 200) committed to Army over offers from Sam Houston, Air Force and Navy. 

Guyer is off to a strong 4-0 start in 2021, picking up big wins over Humble Atascocita and Denton Ryan along the way. 

Scouting Report:  Phillips is a thick, strong downhill back. He has a nice sidestep and good cutback vision. Decent burst and acceleration. He is not flashy but is a tough runner who gets the job done. 

Underclassmen of the Week

Duncanville 2024 OLB/DE Colin Simmons (6'1, 210) picked up an offer from Texas this week.

Simmons filled in at defensive end in a week four win versus DeSoto, as 2020 five-star Omari Abor was sidelined with an injury.

Simmons had a standout sub-varsity season in 2020, picking up offers from schools like SMU, Marshall and Michigan State. 

Recruit of the Week

Humble Atascocita OT Kameron Dewberry (6'4, 310) had an amazing time on an official visit to Oklahoma, reporting the visit was a 10/10. 

Dewberry has used four of his five NCAA-allowed official visits (Oklahoma, Ohio State, LSU, Texas A&M) and will likely wrap things up with an official visit to Alabama. 

Heading into this weekend, it appeared that Texas A&M and Ohio State were leading the charge for the DCTF four-star's services, but the Sooners made a big impression.
