For the first time, Tomball and Tomball Memorial will play their annual rivalry game on a shared home stadium - TISD’s new stadium - and it could be a full house for this district opening showdown.

Tomball remained unbeaten last week as the Cougars rolled past Conroe Oak Ridge, 38-13. QB Cale Hellums threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns and added in 94 yards rushing to pace the Tomball offense. His top target was WR Derrick Taylor, who hauled in five passes for 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the win.

Defending district champion Tomball Memorial bounced back from two straight losses to close out non-district with a 41-34 win over Humble Kingwood.

The Wildcats offense has picked up right where they left off last year averaging 37.5 points per game, but the defense continues to struggle as they are allowing over forty points per game thus far. After dominating the district a year ago,

Memorial may struggle to get back to the playoffs as it appears Tomball High may have the edge in 2021.

Stepp’s Pick: Tomball by 2
