A lot is on the line in this 16-5A Division I showdown as not only are McAllen ISD bragging rights at play, but the district lead is up for grabs as Memorial and Rowe are alone in first place.

McAllen Memorial had no trouble last week as it rolled past Brownsville Lopez, 41-14, in a game that was basically over by halftime as the experienced Mustangs rolled up a 34-7 halftime lead.

McAllen Rowe also dominated a foe from Browsville ISD as the Warriors cruised past Brownsville Pace, 49-21. Veteran QB Mateo Llanas was incredibly sharp in the win throwing three touchdown passes for Rowe and adding a score on the ground as well.

This will be a fun contrast of styles as McAllen Memorial is still old school, they like to control the clock with their running game and play tough defense, while Rowe is a wide-open offense that loves to push the tempo. Whoever controls the type of game this is will likely walk out of Memorial Stadium with a win.
