District play in 2-3A Division II starts with a bang this week as two of the chief challengers to Canadian’s dominance will meet up at Fair Park Stadium.

Spearman, despite being without four-star ATH Brenen Thompson, continued to play solid football as the Lynx took down state-ranked Vega, 24-6. The last three games Spearman’s defense has played outstanding allowing just thirteen points total, all three games being wins.

Spearman’s defense allowed just 147 yards of offense on the night. Brayden Klafka accounted for 148 yards of offense for Spearman, a rushing touchdown and he also picked off a pass playing in the secondary.
Childress got pushed by Shallowater last week, but the Bobcats were able to pull through with a hard-fought 30-28 win.

QB Collin Bishop threw for 448 yards and four touchdowns, while WR Lamont Nickleberry hauled in nine passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns.

The Spearman defense will be a big test for Childress, but the Bobcats are too dynamic and have too many weapons and they’ll put Spearman’s defense in some tough spots.

Stepp’s Pick: Childress by 9
