A sneaky good under-the-radar game out west sees unbeaten El Paso Riverside head east to Monahans to take on the surprising Loboes, who are also sitting at 4-0.

Led by its sensational 1-2 punch on of QB Angel “Speedy” Munoz and RB Jose Guardado, Riverside has put up big numbers all year and that pace continued last week in a 46-36 win over Clint Horizon.

Monahans took on long time rival Fort Stockton and MHS needed some late heroics to earn themselves and overtime win, 28-21. Tre Gomez’s 1-yard scoring run and a big defensive stop in overtime proved to be the difference for Monahans last week.

If Monahans can contain Munoz and Guardado and lean on a smaller Riverside squad with their big offensive line, expect the Loboes to wear the Rangers down in the second half.

Stepp’s Pick: Monahans by 8
