The game of the week in the state of Texas features a DFW vs Houston top 10 matchup at the University of North Texas.

If this seems like a familiar theme for Atascocita, that’s because it is! The Eagles trekked up to the DFW area two weeks ago and ended Allen’s long regular season and home winning-streaks in convincing fashion.

Atascocita had to wait until Saturday to get their Week 3 game in, but it was another strong performance as the Eagles knocked off Klein Oak 43-21. QB Gavin Session threw for 183 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while WR Chase Sowell continued his torrid early success with five catches for 78 yards and a touchdown and he threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Keith Wheeler. Wheeler led the Eagles with 132 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Atascocita’s balance came from RB Tyras Whitfield, who ran for 106 yards and three touchdowns.

Guyer had no trouble last week as the Wildcats dominated an overmatched Mansfield Lake Ridge squad 37-6. QB Jackson Arnold tossed three touchdown passes and the Guyer defense completely dominated Lake Ridge in a real trap game coming off an emotional win the week before against their rivals.

Guyer has an extra two days of preparation for this one as Guyer played their game last week on Thursday, while Atascocita had to wait until Saturday to knock off a tough Klein Oak squad. That will work in the Wildcats favor, but this AHS team has the look of a real contender in Region III and they’ll earn another huge win over a 5-6A opponent on the road.
