District 11-6A kicks off with the ranked matchup of No. 23 DeSoto vs. No. 8 Duncanville. These two did not play in the regular season a year ago, but fans of the rivalry did get to see the matchup in the playoffs as Duncanville won its regional final meeting at Globe Life Park.

DeSoto brought the offensive juice last week against North Crowley winning 53-28. DeSoto and North Crowley combined for 59 points in the first half, but the Eagles were able to pull away in the second. QB Matt Allen threw for 107 yards and four touchdowns, while RB Jaden Trawick ran for 130 yards and a touchdown.

The DeSoto defense was able to force two turnovers, an interception and a fumble.

Duncanville had an unexpected bye for Week 3 as it cancelled their game with the dubious Bishop Sycamore (OH). Duncanville had a rough first week against California power Mater Dei but properly rebounded in Week 2 against South Oak Cliff.

DeSoto and Duncanville will show why District 11-6A is still the district of death as both carry a chip on their shoulders. Tough Week 1 losses have caused many to doubt both teams. Talented squads and a heated rivalry should make this game a must see.
