We have a cross-classification matchup out in East Texas as the Gladewater Bears, No. 5 in 3A-Division I, punch up to take on state ranked 4A-Division I Kilgore.

Kilgore tasted its first loss of the season, and the first under new head coach Clint Fuller, last week as it fell to Longview Pine Tree 42-27. Kilgore was never able to grab the lead as Pine Tree suffocated the Bulldogs with their offense.

Kilgore quarterback Da’Marion Van Zandt was a bright spot as he was able to throw for 198 yards and two touchdowns.

Gladewater slugged it out with Center last week as the Bears were able to pull out a 15-14 win. Despite not having a Week 2 game, the Bears' defense didn’t miss a beat as they were able to hold off Center.

Gladewater were also able to force a fumble on the first play of the game. Kilgore will need its offense to come up big time as they face the defensive might of Gladewater. The Bears will need to find that offensive rhythm to make sure they beat the Bulldogs.

This one could be another low scoring game as these teams duke it out.
