Regional Outlook

Mart has dominated Region III since dropping down to Division II and there’s no doubt once again the Panthers will be heavy favorites inside of their district and in the entire region.

9-2A Division II looks like it’ll once again go to Simms Bowie who brings back seven starters on both sides of the ball from a district championship squad and an area playoff team. Maud, who brings back all but one player from last year’s team will be the key challenger to Bowie. Things get murkier after that with all four teams remaining in the district having a case for a playoff spot.

Mart is the headliner in 10-2A Division II, while Bremond should hold off an improved Chilton squad for the second playoff spot. Hubbard with thirteen returning starters will need to hold off Wortham, who returns sixteen starters for the fourth and final playoff spot.

Tenaha on paper once again appears to be the one team inside of the region that’s capable of challenging Mart and the Tigers look to be the favorite, ahead of Lovelady who does look to be improved. West Sabine, who made the third round of the playoffs will be improved as well with fifteen returning starters, while the battle for fourth looks to be a three-way fight between Cushing, Colmesneil and Mount Enterprise.

Deweyville with eight back on both sides of the ball is the easy pick in 12-2A Division II over Hull-Daisetta and an Evadale squad going through a late coaching change this off-season. Burkeville looks to be the pick for fourth place, although High Island expects to be better in their second season back playing eleven-man football.
