North Texas and Texas State have announced a future home-and-home series. The Mean Green will travel to Texas State in 2026 and then host the Bobcats in 2030.

The pair have played 39 times all time, with the vast majority happening before 1950. The Mean Green hold a 29-7-3 advantage over the Bobcats, and won the last matchup 27-14 on Oct. 8, 1994 in San Marcos, while both programs were Division I-AA schools.

North Texas is fresh off a fourth bowl appearance in five years under head coach Seth Littrell, though two such bowls came while the team was under .500. Littrell won nine games in his second and third season, but is just 8-14 over the past two years.

Texas State coach Jake Spavital is aiming to lead the program to more than three wins for the first time since 2014, the Bobcats' third transitional season. Spavital has a 5-19 record in two seasons with the Bobcats.

Additionally, the Mean Green added a pair of nonconference matchups against FCS opponents. UNT will host WAC opponent Abilene Christian in 2023 and host Southland opponent Houston Baptist in 2026.
