Texas Tech has added a commitment from two-time All-Sun Belt receiver Kaylon Geiger. The Fort Worth Paschal product played two years at Troy after transferring from Navarro College. 

Geiger earned Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year and first team all-conference in 2019 after catching 77 passes for 873 yards and five touchdowns. He followed it up with 64 catches for 752 yards and three touchdowns in 2020 for the Trojans. 

After entering the transfer portal, Geiger reportedly received interest from powers like Auburn, Penn State and Nebraska. However, the opportunity to move closer to home was a strong draw. 

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, Geiger provides a versatile slot option next to a massive receiver room that Sonny Cumbie compared to a basketball roster. While Erik Ezunkanma emerged as one of the state’s top receiving targets, the Red Raiders failed to produce another receiver that posted more than 305 yards. 

Geiger is just the latest addition in Texas Tech’s rebuild of the offense in Matt Wells’ third season. The Red Raiders added high-profile QB Tyler Shough as a transfer, along with TCU starting OT T.J. Storment and former TCU offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie.
