Prospect on the Rise

2022 Newton RB De'Anthony Gatson (5'10, 200) picked up a significant in-state offer from Texas, bringing his offer tally to 22.

Gatson is rated as a three-star prospect, checking in at No. 79 in the DCTF Hot 100.

Gatson also holds offers from schools like Baylor, Houston, TCU, Texas Tech, Colorado, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, USC and more. The Newton standout has an official visit scheduled with Colorado (6/18).

As a junior, Gatson rushed for 1,974 yards and scored 31 touchdowns to earn District MVP honors.

Commit of the Week

2022 Cy-Ranch OT Bryce Simpson (6'6, 310) committed to Baylor over offers from Houston, North Texas, UTSA, Colorado, Memphis, Ole Miss and Utah.

Simpson is rated as a DCTF three-star.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Simpson is an offensive line prospect who gets better day by day. He added 15 pounds of weight between his sophomore and junior campaign, which helped him dominate at the point of contact and overpower defensive linemen. He is a road grating run blocker with the nimbleness to develop the necessary pass pro skills.

Underclassmen of the Week

Fort Worth Brewer 2024 CB Jordon Johnson-Rubell (5'11, 160) has become one of the hottest recruits in the state this spring.

Johnson-Rubell picked up a new offer from Arkansas this week, and the Razorbacks join an impressive collection of offers that also include names like Baylor, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Georgia, USC, Tulsa, Kansas and Colorado.

Johnson-Rubell was the first prospect in the 2024 cycle to earn an offer from Texas A&M.

Recruit of the Week

2022 Spearman ATH Brenen Thompson (5'10, 165) had a massive week on the track at the Texas state championships.

Thompson took home gold in the 3A 200-meter dash (21.27), and he followed that up with a silver medal finish in the 100-meter dash (10.40)

The DCTF four-star speedster is considering offers from schools like Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Clemson and Oklahoma State. Thompson has official visits scheduled with OSU (6/9) and Alabama (11/6).
