North Texas added a commitment from Arkansas defensive line transfer Enoch Jackson Jr. on Tuesday. The Mansfield Legacy product has four years of eligibility remaining.

Jackson played three games during his time in Fayetteville against Mississippi State and Western Kentucky in 2019 and against LSU in 2020. He did not record any statistics during his time at Arkansas.

Before college, Jackson played three years of varsity football at Mansfield Legacy. As a senior, he posted 28 tackles, eight TFLs, four sacks, seven QB hurries and was invited to play in the Offense-Deense All-American Bowl. He led Mansfield Legacy to the Class 5A-DII state semifinals in 2017.

At 6-foot, 298 pounds, Jackson has the size to immediately make an impact on the interior defensive line. He will provide an interior presence next to All-Texas honoree Dion Novil on a defensive line that will play much more even front under new defensive coordinator Phil Bennett.

North Texas is in the midst of rebuilding its defense after finishing last in several national defensive statistics. The Mean Green finished 4-6 with a 56-28 loss to Appalachian State in the Myrtle Beach Bowl in 2020.

Jackson chose Arkansas out of high school over Florida, Georgia, LSU, Clemson and several other Power Five programs.
