Texas linebacker Jake Ehlinger, younger brother of star quarterback Sam Ehlinger, was found dead on Thursday according to a report from the Austin American-Statesman

A 5-foot-11, 245-pound linebacker, Ehlinger came to the 40 Acres after posting 210 tackles and 15 tackles for loss in his final two seasons at Austin Westlake. He graduated in 2019 and enrolled at Texas with his brother.

Austin police told the Statesman that Ehlinger's death was not considered suspicious, but did not report any other information. APD received a call at 12:18 p.m. on Thursday, which led to their discovery.

This is not the first time the Ehlingers have dealt with tragedy in their family. Ross Ehlinger, father of Jake and Sam, died in 2013 after suffering cardiac arrest during the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco. He was just 46.

Sam Ehlinger was drafted in the sixth round of the NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday. He left Texas as one of the most beloved athletes in the modern history of the program.
