In a surprising late move, Killeen ISD’s changes in the athletic department continue on Thursday afternoon when word leaked out that Ellison head coach Todd Wright had resigned his post.

Wright, who had a solid run as the head coach at Waltrip High School in Houston ISD, was not able to duplicate that success in Killeen ISD, posting a 9-21 record in three years.

In addition to searching for a new head coach at Ellison, Killeen ISD is also seeking a new athletic director after Randall Hugg recently announced his retirement.

Killeen ISD is experience major growth as their fifth full service high school will be coming online in the fall of 2022. It’s unclear if Chaparral HS will play varsity football in 2022 or if they’ll join a district in 2024.
