North Texas quarterback Jason Bean is heading to Big 12 school Kansas as a transfer. Bean will have up to three years of eligibility remaining.

The rising junior from Mansfield Lake Ridge entered the 2020 season as the opening day starter. He completed 54.5 percent of his passes for 1,131 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions in eight games. He also added 346 rushing yards and five scores on the ground.

Bean enters a murky situation at Kansas. Jayhawks head coach Les Miles recently resigned after allegations of misconduct dating back to his time at LSU. Former South Oak Cliff coach Emmett Jones currently serves as interim head coach.

The Jayhawks are expected to bring back two quarterbacks that started games last season: sophomore Jalon Daniels and senior Miles Kenrick. Kansas ranked last in the Big 12 at just 154.3 passing yards per game.

North Texas returns sophomore starter Austin Aune at quarterback. Other scholarship players include sophomore Kason Martin, freshman Will Kuehne, freshman Bryce Drummond and Kentucky transfer Amani Gilmore. The Mean Green will also add North Carolina transfer Jace Ruder in the summer session.
