Klein Oak head coach Jason Glenn is being promoted to Klein ISD Director of Student Outreach, opening up the head coaching position at Klein Oak High School, Klein ISD announced on Monday.

Glenn, a former star at Texas A&M, led the Panthers program from 2017-2020 and posted a solid 31-15 overall record, including back-to-back 10-3 seasons in 2018-2019.

“It’s going to be really tough to leave the sidelines,” he said. “I’ve loved my time leading and mentoring the football players at Klein Oak. But this position is really unique and an opportunity I can’t pass up. Now I get the chance to impact and help all the students at Klein ISD. I’ll be able to make an impact with kids in a variety of areas from grades, to family issues, anything else impacting their life, so being able to help all kids is truly a special thing.”

Glenn’s departure opens up a very attractive job just north of the Houston area. However, most indications are the hire will be from the inside at this time.

Despite last year’s tough 4-5 season and first round playoff loss to Spring, expectations are once again for Klein Oak compete for the District 15-6A title.

Glenn didn’t rule out a return to the sidelines at some point in the future.

“I still love football and still love coaching, but right now this is something I wanted to pursue and it’s a great thing for my family,” he said.
