Hardin-Simmons (0-0) at McMurry (1-0)

When: 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilford Moore Stadium in Abilene, Texas

Broadcast: McMurry Athletics

The Matchup: McMurry opened its season by earning the first win for coach Jordan Neal. The War Hawks defense was huge in holding Sul Ross State off the scoreboard for the majority of the game.

Hardin-Simmons will not believe they are finally playing a game this spring until the opening whistle after having a bye week followed by a postponement. The Cowboys are itching to get back on the field and avenge missing out on the playoffs in 2019.

Players to Watch:

HSU - Kyle Jones, QB, Sr, Giddings, Texas (Giddings HS)

Kevi Evans, WR, Jr, Mount Vernon, Texas (Mount Vernon HS)

Marc Reed, RB, Jr, Round Rock, Texas (Round Rock HS)

McMurry - Carlos Garibay, QB, So, San Antonio, Texas (Roosevelt HS)

Kristopher Martin, WR, Fr, El Paso, Texas (El Dorado HS)

Xavier Gayle, LB, So, Rowlett, Texas (Rowlett HS)

Key to Victory: McMurry will need its offense to provide maximum production and score touchdowns on every red zone opportunity. The War Hawks defense will need to stop the run and win the line of scrimmage.

Hardin-Simmons returns most of their key offensive players from last season. However, the Cowboys are replacing both Jaquan Hemphill and Bryson Hammonds. The offensive line will be key this week.

Prediction: Hardin-Simmons by 35
