Prospect on the Rise

North Shore 2022 DT Kris Ross (6'3, 265) is one of the state's hottest prospects and he named a top four of Baylor, Texas, LSU and Oklahoma -- all have now offered.

Ross also released details on when he plans to make his final decision on what college he will attend.

"With March 23rd being the anniversary of my father's passing, I'd like to honor his memory by making a lifelong decision he would have been proud of," Ross explained. "Therefore, that is the day I'll announce the school of my choice."

Commit of the Week

Clear Springs 2022 WR Noah Thomas (6'5, 180) committed to Texas A&M

Thomas is rated as a DCTF four-star prospect.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Thomas is a rangy wide receiver prospect who has the burst and quickness to run by defensive backs and make plays in the vertical passing game. He boats a plus catch-radius paired with above-average overall athleticism.

Underclassmen of the Week

2023 Odessa Permian OL Harris Sewell (6'4, 290) has picked up four more major offers this week by way of TCU, Texas, Baylor and USC.

The DCTF Rising Top 50 member has now doubled his offer list as these schools join Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Kansas and Minnesota.

Sewell earned all-district honors as a sophomore in 2020.

Recruit of the Week

2022 Katy DB Bobby Taylor Jr. (6'3, 325) narrowed his heavy offer list down to focus on three schools: Texas, Texas A&M, Michigan.

The DCTF four-star initially named a top three of Alabama, A&M and Michigan, but the Longhorns have surged in his recruitment with Steve Sarkisian in place.

Taylor, who has plans to announce his commitment on Feb. 24, is the son of former Notre Dame standout and NFLer Bobby Taylor.

Powers' Take: A&M seems to be in a good place here. Taylor has expressed heavy interest in playing in the SEC and the Aggies offer that in a package close to home, but never sleep on Alabama when it comes to recruiting whether they are in the official top three or not.

Bonus Weekly Recruiting Nuggets: Texas Longhorns

The Texas Longhorns are red hot on the recruiting trail under the guidance of new head coach Steve Sarkisian.

This week the 'Horns picked up a commitment from 247Sports five-star quarterback Maalik Murphy (6'5, 225) from Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra.

247Sports analyst Greg Biggins describes Murphy as a "future high round NFL draft pick."

UT also landed a new commitment from DCTF three-star LB Trevell Johnson (6'1, 180) from Arlington Martin.

Scouting Report: Johnson is an energetic linebacker who has great quickness and plays hard every snap. He is a force on special teams, which speaks to his passion for the game. Johnson, a hybrid-style safety/linebacker, should be able to play well in pass coverage.
