Texas Tech has added Oregon starting quarterback Tyler Shough as a transfer. Shough will have up to three years of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer.

In seven games as the starting quarterback at Oregon, Shough led the Ducks to the Pac 12 Championship. He completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 1,559 yards, 13 touchdowns and six interceptions.

When the sophomore entered the transfer portal, he earned attention from programs like Penn State and Auburn. However, Matt Wells convinced Shough to take his talents to Lubbock.

He will be a much-needed dose of experience for a program that struggled offensively the past few seasons. The once offense-happy Red Raiders ranked No. 6 in the Big 12 in scoring and fifth in yards per play.

Shough will have the inside track to start the 2021 season after he graduates from Oregon this semester. The Red Raiders lost multi-year starter Alan Bowman to the transfer portal after firing David Yost. Freshmen Behren Morton and Maverick McIvor will also compete for the starting job.
