Hendrix (1-0) at Trinity (2-0)

When: Noon Saturday at Trinity Football Stadium in San Antonio

The Matchup: The Alamo City is the place to be for small college football in Texas this week. Hendrix won its opening game of the season 37-27 against Millsaps but last week’s game against Austin College was postponed. The Warriors do not necessarily benefit from the extra week since they were preparing for the ‘Roos.

Trinity enters the contest playing consistently on offense and a defense that has been near championship caliber. A Southern Athletic Association title is what the Tigers seek and a win this week is a must to have an opportunity to win the title outright.

Players to Watch: Hendrix quarterback Jacob Wood is a true dual-threat. Wood had 218 yards passing and 146 yards rushing with three total touchdowns in the Warriors’ only game. Linebacker Tanner Barrett is a disruptive force in the Warriors’ defense.

The Trinity offense totaled 504 yards last week with nearly an even split between the passing and rushing attack. Tanner Barrett was huge last week gaining 99 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. Chris Stewart is a threat at wide receiver regardless of who lines up behind center.

Key to Victory: This seems a bit too simple. The key for both teams is Jacob Wood. Trinity will seek to contain Wood in the pocket and limit his rushing yards. The Tigers will also need to key on wide receiver Blake Hinton. The Warriors have the offensive fire power to keep Hendrix in the game.

Prediction: Trinity by 10
