After a search that seemed to drag out about two weeks too long, Midland High School landed on the candidate that had been rumored around the Permian Basin as the next guy up for quite a while: Odessa Permian offensive coordinator Thad Fortune.

Fortune had spent the last seven seasons directing the Permian offense along with coaching the Panthers quarterbacks. This will be his first head coaching position.

Prior to coming to Odessa, Coach Fortune served as an assistant at Stephenville and at his alma mater East Texas Baptist University.

Fortune will look to revive a Midland High program that has struggled in recent years; the Bulldogs last winning season was a 9-win campaign in 2016, which was Craig Yenzer’s last season at the helm.
