Four Division III matchups involving Texas schools have been pushed aside due to the recent polar vortex bringing periloud weather conditions to the state.

Hardin-Simmons' matchup against West Texas rival Howard Payne, Texas Lutheran's home game against McMurry and Austin College's trip to Hendrix have all been postponed until further notice. Southwestern's matchup against Louisiana College has been listed as cancelled.

The teams involved in the three former games will look at options to reschedule in the coming weeks. Both the American Southwestern Conference and Southern Athletic Association have planned a five-game spring schedule.

The polar vortex has already brought frigid weather to much of the state. Temperatures in the state are expected to reach 0 degrees with heavy chances of snow. The weather has already led to unsafe travel conditions, including a horrific 130-car pileup in Fort Worth that left six drivers dead.

However, two Division III games are still scheduled to take place at this point. East Texas Baptist will host Belhaven at 1 p.m. in Marshall. Trinity departed for its 12 p.m. game against Millsaps in Jackson, Miss., on Friday morning. The plan is still to play.

Transitioning FCS member Tarleton will also face McNeese State at 6 p.m. on Saturday night in Stephenville, the first Division I matchup in program history. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest.
