El Campo has named Brock head coach Chad Worrell as its next head coach and athletic director.

The news was first reported by Mike Foreman.

In seven seasons leading Brock, Coach Worrell posted an unbelievable 91-12 record with a state title, a state title game appearance and two state semifinal appearances. Last season was the first time Brock was eliminated before the regional finals.

He now leaves to try and take a very talented El Campo squad, led by star running back Rueben Owens, to the promised land of a state title. Worrell replaces Wayne Condra, who announced his retirement after six seasons as head coach in December.

One key point on Coach Worrell's departure was he was not the AD at Brock and he gets to be the AD in El Campo; also as competitive as coaches are the challenge of doing it at a bigger school in a place that's never won state is intriguing.

El Campo finished with a 9-2 record in 2020 and won the District 12-4A championship before losing to Kilgore in the regional round.
