Prospect on the Rise

Richland 2022 WR CJ Nelson (6'0, 175) picked up a substantial in-state offer from TCU this week, his first in-state Power Five conference offer.

The Horned Frogs join schools like Houston, SMU, Kansas, and Arkansas State on his early offer list.

Described as a receiver who "is twitchy with good top-end speed," Nelson was named the DCTF Rising 2022 Top 100 in December.

Commit of the Week

Conroe Oak Ridge 2021 RB Alton McCaskill (6'1, 185) committed to Houston over offers from schools like Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and more.

The Cougars are getting the No. 61 overall prospect in the DCTF Hot 100 and the No. 7 RB in the state.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: McCaskill is a great looking running back prospect with a long chiseled body. He shows good cutback vision and shows burst when he sees an opening. McCaskill has good speed in the open field and runs away from defenders, showcasing his top-end speed.

Underclassmen of the Week

Lewisville 2022 WR Armani Winfield (6'2, 180) was the first commitment of the Steve Sarkisian era at Texas.

Winfield, who was at one time considered as an Ohio State lean, committed to the Longhorns at the halftime of the National Championship game after watching how effectively the wide receivers were implemented within Sarkisian's offensive scheme.

Winfield is already rated as a DCTF four-star and had offers from all of the nation's heavy hitters.

Scouting Report: Winfield plays bigger than his listed measurables. He is the high school version of Michael Thomas. He has long arms and is a silky-smooth route runner who understands how to use his body and long arms to shield defenders from the ball.

Recruits of the Week

Saturday's state championship games at AT&T Stadium will feature a DCTF five-star and two DCTF four-stars, setting the table for a fascinating slate of games.

**** Kaidon Salter (Cedar Hill) vs. NR Caleb Koger (Katy) 1 p.m. Saturday at Arlington's AT&T Stadium

Salter leads a balanced Longhorns attack, and 2023 fast-riser Koger has been leading a stout offensive charge.

**** Quinn Ewers (Southlake Carroll) vs. **** Cade Klubnik (Austin Westlake) 7 p.m. Saturday at Arlington's AT&T Stadium.

This game may feature the top two signal-callers in the Class of 2022. Ewers vs. Klubnik is a great way to end the season with a bang.
