Denton Guyer (11-2) vs Cedar Hill (11-1)

These two played a pair classic games last year, with Denton Guyer coming out on top in both. That included a stunning playoff comeback in the area round when the Wildcats rallied from a 41-14 deficit with five minutes left in the third quarter to stun Cedar Hill, 50-41, in one of the most improbable playoff comebacks you’ll ever see.

Cedar Hill will look to end the year of suffering against Guyer this week in a state semifinal showdown, but last week it was Cedar Hill that needed the late heroics in a 27-24 overtime win over upstart Rockwall-Heath.

QB Kaidon Salter, a Tennessee signee, had another clutch performance throwing for 266 yards and three touchdowns and adding 83 rushing yards. New Mexico State signee Javien Clemmer was the top target for the Longhorns hauling in 10 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns, including the game winning TD reception on Cedar Hill’s overtime possession.

Guyer needed extra time as well as the Wildcats survived a triple overtime thriller over district rival Prosper, 30-24.

Texas A&M signee QB Eli Stowers willed the Wildcats to the win having a hand in all four Guyer touchdowns and accounting for 168 yards of offense.

Despite the mounting injuries, Guyer has found a way to survive the Region I bracket with back to back overtime wins. Guyer’s defied logic all year and showed a ton of fight despite losing key players for large parts of the season and their biggest games of the post-season, but they are facing a motivated Cedar Hill squad who saw their season nearly slip away last week.

The Longhorns have waited for this one and will erase the bad memories from last year at AT&T Stadium.
