Crosby (10-3) vs Fort Bend Marshall (12-0)

1 p.m. Friday at Humble’s Turner Stadium

Crosby has taken down unbeaten teams in back to back weeks, and now the Cougars are looking to make it three in a row against two-time defending regional champion Fort Bend Marshall.

Crosby needed overtime to get it done last week, but the Cougars had the formula for the vaunted Huntsville defense in a 32-29 win.

QB Deniquez Dunn accounted for 334 yards of offense and three touchdowns to lead Crosby, but Dunn didn’t play in the fourth quarter or overtime with an unspecified lower body injury; his status is unknown for this week’s game.

Fort Bend Marshall, who has played in the state title game the last two years, put together their best performance of the year last week in a 49-0 demolition of Nederland.

Marshall’s defense held Nederland to just one first down in the first half and Roland Harvey tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Chris Marshall that helped the Buffaloes out to a 20-0 lead at the half.

Marshall dominated in the second half forcing three of their five turnovers and Coach James Williams’ squad was able to play backups for the entire fourth quarter.

Crosby is peaking at the right time, but without a clear read on Dunn’s health and even if he does play, it’s unlikely he’s 100 percent. Got to stick with the proven commodity, fresh off their best game of the year.
