1. Texas A&M

An easy selection here for the top spot in the state.

The Aggies surged down the recruiting homestretch to ascend to a Top 10 national ranking signing top in-state prospects like DeSoto DE Shemar Turner, Katy Tompkins DE Tunmise Adeleye, and Katy Taylor OG Bryce Foster

A&M added key commits in the trenches on both sides of the football, giving Jimbo Fisher and his staff all the ammo it needs to compete for SEC championships in the coming years.

2. Texas

Texas did well in the face of adversity to close out a class that is rated in the Top 20 nationally.

The prize recruit was five-star Denton Ryan DE Ja'Tavion Sanders, who honored his long-time pledge to the 'Horns. Sanders gives the UT defense a bonafide pass-rushing element who could one day hear his name called at the top of the NFL Draft.

All-in-all, Texas secured 12 commits rated within the DCTF Hot 100.

3. Baylor

Baylor's coaching staff proved that it has a keen eye for recruiting top Texas talents. With several transfers announced, the Bears still have room to add more players by the time National Signing Day rolls around on Feb. 3.

A quartet of offensive four-stars headline BU's signings: Lindale RB Jordan Jenkins, Shadow Creek QB Kyron Drones, Wall OG Tate Williams and Summer Creek WR Elijah Bean

The Bears have assembled excellent talent on both sides of the football in this class, but OC Larry Fedora has to be excited about the infusion of talent heading in on the offensive side.

4. SMU

The fact that SMU has a higher-rated recruiting class than two of the state's Power Five conference schools tells the tale of the success that Sonny Dykes and Co. had.

SMU checks in with a Top 50 class nationally headlined by DCTF four-star and All-American QB Preston Stone from Dallas Parish Episcopal.

SMU is also an active force working the NCAA Transfer Portal. The combination of top-tier transfers blended with high school stars should draw comparisons to how Bill Snyder sustained success in the Big 12 at Kansas State.

5. TCU

With only 13 signings this week, TCU secured hard-nosed players who will impact the roster.

The past couple of seasons Gary Patterson and his staff have flexed some national muscle and ventured outside the state to pick up recruits and mix them in with TXHSFB talent.

Hutto four-star DE Landyn Watson is the highest-rated prospect on the defensive side of the ball and Klein Forest RB Ahmonte Watkins was a key add on offense.

6. UTSA

UTSA capped off a tremendous year in recruiting under first-year head coach Jeff Traylor, who has the Roadrunners bowl eligible for the second time in school history.

Traylor has been known for his recruiting prowess. He was named the Big 12 Recruiter of the Year at Texas before moving on to Arkansas to help re-establish the Razorbacks as a recruiting force in Texas.

7. Texas Tech

Matt Wells and his staff at Texas Tech have done a tremendous job concentrating their efforts on recruiting players from Texas. This year, 9-of-10 early signings hail from the Lone Star State.

Wells secured a significant recruiting win by securing a signature from Eastland four-star QB Behren Morton, who was waffling a bit on his commitment as the Early Signing Period approached.

8. Rice

The Owls check-in at No. 8 while signing its most impressive class talent-wise in the Mike Bloomgren era, jumping up about 20 spots nationally by comparison.

9. North Texas

It was a tight battle between UNT and Rice for the No. 8 spot and a signing day surprise DCTF Hot 100 ATH Caleb Johnson from Greenville helped the Mean Green to the No. 4 Conference USA signing class.

10. Houston

With only nine signings, the Cougars finished towards the bottom of the American Athletic Conference ratings. Still, UH fans should be excited about the future of the offense with the addition of Elite 11 QB Maddox Kopp.

11 (Tie). Texas State & UTEP

The Bobcats and Miners are only credited with one junior college signing each.
