Edinburg Vela OT Ronnie Garza (6'6, 295) found exactly what he needed in a college.

With offers from Houston, Rice, Princeton, Texas State, Incarnate Word, Yale and Arkansas State, it was UTSA that impressed the DCTF three-star the most and got his signature.

"I committed to UTSA earlier this year on April 21. For me, it felt like a home away from home," Garza said. "When I visited, it was a nice campus, but honestly, it was coach (Jeff) Traylor who made me feel like UTSA was where I needed to be."

The South Texas area lineman Garza spoke more about Traylor and what is going on in San Antonio.

"You can see that the team is off to a great start with coach Traylor there as a new coach. He is going to make a lot great changes there," Garza said. "He is a coach who brings players together. He sees his team as a family and all are equal and important.

"He has a great compassion for the game."

Garza is projected to play left tackle at the college level but said he is also open to playing guard. He brings solid athleticism to the position and is known for finishing blocks.

With the UTSA commitment, there are a number of athletes who are excited as well to be part of the programs. Garza said that he has connected with future O-line teammates in Kamron Scott, Luke Lapeze, River Gordon and Robert Rigsby.

"We all believe in coach Traylor. We think the program will be special for years," Garza said.
