Prospect on the Rise

Austin Westlake 2021 LB Nick Morris (6'3, 220) has helped lead one of the state's most impressive defenses, and it is paying off with major college attention.

Morris -- who moved to the Austin-area from Connecticut -- and the Chaparrals defense have held opponents to 2.5 points per game.

Morris is committed to Pennsylvania, but he has picked up new offers from Oklahoma State and Duke since the start of the season.

Commit of the Week

DeSoto DT Byron Murphy II (6'2, 270) flipped his commitment from Baylor to Texas.

The Longhorns are getting the No. 93 overall prospect in the DCTF Top 100 and is the No. 4 DT in the state.

Next Level Athlete Scouting Report: Murphy is an interior defensive line prospect with good quickness off the ball and an explosive first step. He uses his hands well to create separation. Murphy attacks with a bull rush most of the time but has plenty of quickness to escape blocks on the move. He moves well laterally and plays with a high motor.

Underclassmen of the Week

Southlake Carroll 2022 QB Quinn Ewers (6'3, 195) committed to Ohio State.

Ewers was the first TXHSFB prospect in the Class of 2022 to earn five-star status and is rated as the No. 1 prospect in the state.

Ewers helped lead SLC to a 13-1 record in 2019. He completed 292-of-402 (72%) of his passes for 3,998 yards and 45 touchdowns and rushed for 583 yards and nine scores to earn 5-6A MVP and second-team all-state honors.

Recruit of the Week

Duncanville 2021 WR Roderick Daniels (5'10, 170) decommitted from Baylor.

Daniels is now looking hard at staying local and playing his college ball at SMU.
