No. 13 O'Donnell (7-1, 2-0) at No. 2 Borden County (6-2, 2-0)

Friday, 7:30

A battle of the two remaining undefeated teams in Division 1, District 4.

Borden County is on a roll after a pair of early season losses and has four wins over teams ranked in the top 11 in the state. On the other side is an O’Donnell team whose only loss came to top-ranked Sterling City. After their bye week, the Eagles have given up a total of 12 points in their last three games.

There is a lot of history here with the coaching staffs, as O'Donnell head coach Fernando Baeza will be making a sort of homecoming. He played on the first Borden County state championship team when current head coach Trey Richey was an assistant in 1997. He was also an assistant under Richey at Borden County.

Richey knew this day was coming and that Baeza would have the Eagles in this position.

“He was one of the best athletes and best competitors I ever coached,” Richey said. “He’s one of the most loyal and hard-working coaches I have ever met. Great young man, love him like one of my own. My kids all love him too. He is a great man, father, husband, son, coach and friend. Never doubted he would get O’Donnell to this position to play for a district championship.”

PREDICTION

Borden County 48 O’Donnell 30

OTHER GAMES OF INTEREST

Follett at Miami -- There's a remote chance Lefors can still get in, otherwise, this is a battle of the top two teams in Division 1, District 1.

Nazareth at Springlake Earth -- It doesn't get any easier for the Wolverines as a tough Naz team comes to town trying to shake up the district race

Morgan at Walnut Springs -- After Iredell closing down their season, this is the only game remaining on the district schedule. With both at 1-0, this will determine playoff seeding in Division 2, District 12.

Hermleigh at Ira -- Hermleigh is already in the playoffs, but can secure the undefeated regular season with a win here. Ira can claim a spot in the playoffs with a win, but would still need to get past an Aspermont team that was upset this past weekend.

Jonesboro at Lometa -- With playoff spots secured, this is for the district title in Division 1, District 15.

Valley at White Deer -- Two really good teams who have already lost to Happy and need a win here for a shot at the playoffs

Garden City at Grady -- This looks to be the battle for the second playoff spot behind Rankin in Division 1, District 6.
