Welcome to TXHSFB Inside The Numbers, a weekly look at Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s comprehensive computer rankings. Each week, we’ll take a deep dive into that week’s Texas high school football computer rankings to separate the signal from the noise.

CLASS 6A and CLASS 5A

One more week until we can actually talk about these two classifications! 6A and 5A start play Thursday, so we’ll finally be able to move some teams around.

CLASS 4A

At The Top… In Division I, Argyle’s win over Waco La Vega vaults the Eagles back into the No. 1 spot, but the computer still believes in La Vega, keeping the Pirates at No. 3. Springtown is up a few spots, and Paris makes a nice jump thanks to their win over Midlothian Heritage, joining the top 10. Despite not playing a game yet, Austin LBJ’s into the top 10 as well. Go figure. Division II’s got a new top dog, too — West Orange-Stark’s thumping of Newton impressed the computer enough to take them up to the top of the table. Celina’s big win over Paul Pewitt affirmed the computer’s belief in the Bobcats, jumping them to No. 6, while Salado’s up to No. 7 after another big win. Graham and Center also crack the top 10.

Down in Division II, Gunter retakes the second spot over Poth, while Franklin’s back in the top 10 after their first win of the year.
