Things in the world may have been put on a temporary hold, but that hasn't stopped college football recruiting. Commitments, offers, and decommitments have been happening nonstop.
 
Manor 2021 S Devin Lemear (6'1, 175) made an early commitment to TCU, but Baylor's offer was a difference-maker in his recruitment.

 In the end, it was a choice of defensive minds, and he felt that Baylor was the place he needed to be. 
 
"I committed to TCU in January. It was my first offer," Lemear said. "I felt like I rushed that decision, so I decided to decommit. Originally I wanted to take all of my visits, but that doesn't seem like a possibility now. Once I opened up, Baylor offered me the next day. At that point, Baylor was my No. 1 priority. Coach (Dave) Aranda is a defensive guru, and he produces safeties."

 
It was August 8 when Lemear pledged Baylor while racking up many offers along the way. Arkansas, Texas, Iowa State, Cal, Utah and Houston were some of his other options.

Lemear admits that both of the schools battling for his services are great defensive minds within college football. But it seemed as though the Bears held en edge with Dave Aranda coming off a championship season with LSU. That was big, and he has a strong relationship with all the coaches in Waco. 
 
"Coach (Aranda) and I talk a lot. They say that they like my versatility and feel they can use me in many ways," Lemear said. "They want to use me like Grant Delpit. I can come down and play the nickel and line up as a high safety. I can do what the team needs me to do on each play."
 
Lemear has been working hard in the offseason to enter his senior season at the top of his game. 
 
"For me, it has been hectic, but I've made big strides in my game. I have been staying busy, so busy that I don't have time to think about the negatives," Lemear said. "I've been working on my footwork, and I can tell its night/day compared to last season. Last year, I played at 160, and now I'm 175. I feel like I have been making strides everywhere."

Before moving on to Baylor, Lemear and Manor have some unfinished business. The Mustangs went four rounds deep, eventually falling to the state champs in Shadow Creek. 

"I feel like we are looking good. We lost a lot of key pieces, but we have a lot of young guys coming to work this summer," Lemear said. "We have a new coaching staff, and that has been good for everyone. All of the players have bought into the system. I think we will be good this season."
