Every day, Magnolia 2021 OT Matthew Wykoff (6'6, 305) shows up with his team to get in workouts and build camaraderie. Every day is a day of gratitude and hope that they will play a complete 2020 season.

"Everyone wants to move forward and play the game of football," Wykoff said. "We hit every workout, not knowing if it will be our last."

The three-star lineman made his commitment to Texas A&M on April 18, over several other options, including Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas and USC.

The Aggies' persistence for him won out in the end.

"It was the connection. The coaches stay in touch and make sure to reach out," Wykoff said. "It's always nice to hear from them and shows that they care."

Many other factors played into the decision as well. Playing in the SEC, proximity to home and the coaching staff's relationship were all key factors.

Wykoff also points out that TAMU offers him the opportunity to have a great life after football.

"I really like the Aggie Network. I feel like I have a bright future being a part of that program," Wykoff said. "When I leave there, I feel like I will be taken care of. Plus, there are a lot of fans here (Magnolia), and that will always be there and help as well."

During his high school tenure, Wykoff has played defensive end, tight end, and multiple spots on the offensive line. He moved the starting tackle position as a junior after lining up at tight end the year before. Once he gets to College Station, he knows there is more to learn up front.

"I'm a versatile guy. I have not reached my full potential and have a lot to learn," Wykoff said. "I'm still a guy who can use more development on the offensive line. The coaches see that, and that is a good thing. I'm recruited to play tackle, but I'll play guard or center too. I'm a quick learner, and I'm ready to do that."

Last season, Wykoff recorded over 30 pancake blocks through 12 games.
