Canadian proved why the Wildcats are the second-ranked team in 3A DII last week with a dominating win over Stinnett West Texas. But the Hawks are set to give them a much tougher test with junior running back Jaydon Southard who rushed for 106 yards last week against Holliday.

Gavin Rountree passed his first test in taking over for the Yellowjackets’ offense throwing for 168 yards while letting Kason Phillips carry the bulk of the load rushing for 222 yards against Sweetwater. But Lampasas’ explosive offense likely means the two Stephenville seniors will need another stellar performance to keep pace with Ace Whitehead and Jack Jerome.

A very intriguing matchup between two cross-division teams. Gunter’s top-ranked team is still young but looked the part of a defending champion last weekend against Van Alstyne. Pottsboro’s a bit more on the experienced end coming off a state finals run in 2019 with Braden Plyler still behind center. If a young Gunter team comes away with a win here, 3A DII might be in trouble again.

A cross-town battle for the city! Last week, Waco La Vega won an impressive slugfest with Port Lavaca Calhoun, 20-7 and proved that the Pirates are still the team to beat in 4A DI now that Carthage dropped down. But we also saw the Cadets introduced a new explosive playmaker in Tre Wisner last week. The sophomore ran for 266 yards in ghis varsity debut.
