Baylor football has postponed its opener against Louisiana Tech on Saturday. The two sides will try and find a date later in the season.

With the decision, Baylor will now open the season on Sept. 26 against Kansas at McLane Stadium in Dave Aranda's debut.

"We are obviously disappointed that we will not be able to open the season this weekend at Baylor," said Louisiana Tech athletic director Tommy McClelland. "However, with the number of recent positive COVID-19 results and contact tracing, it is simply not possible. We would be putting our student-athletes at risk."

Per the statement, Louisiana Tech had a rash of positive cases in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura, which caused major issues in Louisiana. Before Hurricane Laura, the Bulldogs only had one positive test. Per a report from Yahoo, Louisiana Tech had 38 players test positive in the aftermath of the hurricane.

The Bears' opener is the second Texas FBS game to be postponed at this point, joining TCU's opener against SMU. The Horned Frogs pushed the game after poor COVID testing numbers in Fort Worth.

Baylor and Louisiana Tech do not have any overlapping open dates at this point
